A love song to Archive.org - Derik in Minnesota

Archive.org, how do I love thee?

Today, while developing code for my first personal web site since the year 2000, I used Archive.org to yoink some Javascript code from el Fuñaroverse, circa 2004.

What cracks me up? Back when el Fuñaroverse was launching, I used Archive.org to yoink this same code from Derik's PR-Themed Site of the Week, my aforementioned defunct dating-from-1998 personal website.

I am now using Javascript that I wrote more than 10 years ago with almost no changes. I was terribly proud of it at the time, and I'm even prouder to say that it still stands up a decade later. No re-coding needed.

Thank you Archive.org, you made me more awesome.

I pulled a similar trick the other day, though not for code but to get a screenshot of a defunct site I did work on. Archive.org is truly one of the wonders of our day.

That said, I can't wait to see your site. I remember your old site as a personal favorite from The Day, because it had tons more personality than most sites.
